The CIOMP-T2T Entrepreneurship Studio and six other Jilin organizations have recently been designated as National Maker Spaces by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, which is part of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

CIOMP-T2T was founded by CIOMP in May 2015. Based on the T2T service concept – from thought to technology to transfer – the studio is a high-tech innovation and entrepreneurship service platform that provides guidance for entrepreneurs and investors to reach their full potential. CIOMP-T2T provides physical space for entrepreneurs to work from, as well as online and in-person advice on the technical, research, venture capital and other entrepreneurial requirements that are necessary for success. The studio represents an importance intelligence resource and undertakes the transformation of scientific and technological achievement to build a full-chain innovation entrepreneurship system.

CIOMP-T2T is focused on the construction of two platforms, five databases and one capital pool, and the integration of all resources within its high-tech innovation environment. CIOMP-T2T signs strategic arrangements with venture capital companies, research institutes, universities and other community organizations. Thus far, CIOMP-T2T has delivered on more than 50 programs in the fields of electronic messaging, biotechnology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, energy efficiency and environmental protection, health and medicine, and other domains. Five of these programs have been transformed successfully and achieved ￥12.1 million (~US$1.9 million) financing.

CIOMP-T2T has carried out a series of activities based on features and advantages of T2T, such as start-up training, start-up salons, entrepreneur collaboration, entrepreneurship roadshows, and financing activities. CIOMP-T2T organizes programs to encourage outstanding applicants to enter innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. Previous participants have received the top award in many competitions, including the China Adolescents Science & Technology Innovation Contest, the invention award of Soong Chingling Foundation, and the excellence award of the 4th China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition.

CIOMP-T2T’s activities have obtained high evaluations from provincial and municipal leaders, and achieved support from the Jilin Province Development and Reform Commission, the Jilin Association for Science and Technology, the Jilin Provincial Science & Technology department, the Commission of Industry and Information Technology of Jilin, the Changchun Science & Technology, and other departments. We demonstrably construct an entrepreneurship environment that leads to innovation by talented individuals and results in wide social impacts.

Within just 3 months of its launch, CIOMP-T2T was named a Changchun Maker Space and was included in a guide of the development of maker spaces, as one of four typical development models. In November 2015, we were awarded the status of Provincial Maker Space. Three months later, CIOMP-T2T was included in the national network of maker spaces. These awards reflect CIOMP-T2T’s ideas development, resource superiority and demonstrated success in advancing innovation and entrepreneurship. We are an important part of the exploration into the “new normal” economy, promoting industrial transformation and upgrade and creating new economic growth areas.

In the future, CIOMP-T2T will use CIOMP as a research and technology fulcrum to transform innovative technology into new products and increased productivity. By adhering to the underlying principles of more specialization, standardization and market orientation, CIOMP-T2T will be an innovation service platform that integrates people, places and finances. We will play an important role as an innovation engine to ensure Jilin’s continuing industrial and economic development.
