Members of the CIOMP visited LPI as part of the Chinese delegation led by BAI Chunli, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). They were cordially received by Kolachevsky, president of the LPI on July 17.

Kolachevsky briefed the Chinese visitors on LPI’s work on physical chemistry, space research and nanotechnology. Later, he showed them around the High Temperature Superconducting Center and the Spectroscopic Laboratory.

CIOMP had previously conducted in-depth exchanges with LPI. The two sides hope to establish a Sino-Russian joint laboratory for space optical observations, conducting solar observation research, working together to achieve the ultimate goal, in-orbit observation of the sun.

BAI Chunli pointed out that to promote the cooperation between China and Russian on technological innovations is an important part of the Sino-Russian future strategic cooperation. The years 2020 and 2021 will be the Sino-Russian Science and Technology Cooperation Innovation Years, further evidence of the importance attached to this aspect by the two governments.

BAI expressed the hope that CIOMP and LPI will be able to fully tap the potential of their cooperation, expand the scope of cooperation, expand and strengthen the joint laboratory, and establish a model for future cooperation projects. He also pledged that CAS will support LPI’s cooperation plans with any other CAS institutes.
