Light: Science & Applications (LSA), a journal jointly published by Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) and Nature Publishing Group, was selected by Chinese authorities as a “Leading STM Journal.

Launched in 2012, LSA is currently one of the most respected and visible optics journals in the world. Meanwhile, its sister journal eLight, also launched by CIOMP, was named a  ‘Promising New STM Journals’.

The Chinese government launched an “Excellent Move of China STM Journals” program earlier this month (Nov. 21st), aimed at improving and promoting Chinese STM journals to reach world-class level.

285 promising journals were selected from more than 5,000 currently published in China and will receive extra state grant for the next five years.

The program will give out 22 grants for ‘Leading STM Journals’, 29 grants for ‘Key STM Journals’, 199 grants for ‘Important STM Journals’, 30 grants for ‘Promising New STM Journals’ and 5 grants for ‘Experiments in STM Journal Publishing Groups’.

The program was jointly launched by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Administration of the Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.
