Space Robot Center

1. Introduction

Space Robot Center (SRC) is found in 2012 by CIOMP and Harbin Inst. of Tech. (HIT). Space mechanical engineering is the major and the interests are mechanism of the satellite, and the machine / electronics design, mechanics design, thermal design and the validation tests.

The funding team of SRC launched CAD/CAE/CAM design and research from 1980s. Three dimensional design, optics/machine/ electronics/thermal integrated simulation, thermal design and space environment engineering are carried on work.

SRC orientation: According to the requirement of the country and market, along with the development road of science and technology innovations, space machines are focused on, and elemental research and application research are launched for space machine and mechanism. Space machine and optics, mechanics, electronics, and thermal products of space optics remote sensor are developed. The center is hoped to found to be the first class institution to research and develop space machine and space environment engineering.

The center is composited Engineering Technology Research Office and Robot System Innovation Office.


2. Introduction of Department Leaders

1)  WU Qingwen 

Wu Qingwen, male, born in December 1968, Han nationality, Research Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CIOMP), he is currently serving as executive deputy director for Space Robot Engineering Center (SREC).

Dr.Wu is one of earliest scientific researchers of CIOMP engaged in space remote sensing, and one of the academic leaders of CIOMP in the field of mechanics, thermal control and robotics. He has participated in the aerospace projects of Shenzhou series, Tiangong-1, Tianhui-1 and Chang’e project. In recent years, he is one of the key persons to take charge of the program of Space Station’s robotic forearm, it’s functional and performance indexes are leading in china and advanced in the world.

He has set up courses for the Department of Postgraduates and the Department of Manpower, which includes "Mechanical CAD/CAE/CAM", "Thermal control technology for space optical remote sensor", "Mechanical problems in engineering", "Environmental testing technology for space optical remote sensors", etc.

He has twice received the first prize for science and technology progress of Jilin province (ranking 4/15 and 5/15 respectively). He has published more than 50 papers, granted 10 patents, and supervised more than 40 doctoral and master students.


2) XU Zhenbang

XU Zhenbang (1982.09), Ph.D., Professor, Doctoral supervisor. He is currently engaged as an Associate Director in the Space Robotics Engineering Center.

In 2005, XU Zhen bang graduated from the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the University of Science and Technology of China with a bachelor's degree. In 2010, he graduated from the Department of Modern Mechanics of the University of Science and Technology of China with a Ph.D.

XU Zhenbang is the editorial board member of the journal Virtual Reality and Intelligent Hardware (Chinese and English). In 2014, he was selected to the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2018, he was selected as the first Xuguang Talent Program of Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics and awarded the Jilin Province Youth Science and Technology Award.

In recent years, based on basic research, developing high technology, serving national defense security and major national needs, his team has achieved a series of achievements in the fields of space intelligent robots, multi-dimensional precision adjustment mechanisms, spatial structure dynamics and micro-vibration control. He has also presided over basic research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, General program, the Jilin Province Science and Technology Development Plan Project and so on. In addition, he has presided over National defense science and technology innovation fund and the other high-tech projects. As the person in charge of the mechanics and vibration suppression subsystem, he participated in many major scientific research projects such as the multi-functional optical facility of the Chinese space station and the mechanical arm of the Chinese space station experimental cabin. At present, he has published more than 50 research papers in famous journals such as Journal of Sound and vibration, Journal of Guidance Control and Dynamics, Mechanism and Machine Theory, Robot and Journal of Vibration and Shock. Among them, there are 15 SCI papers and More than 20 EI papers as the first or corresponding author. Moreover, he has applied for 25 invention patents, 13 of which have been authorized.


3) GUO Liang

In 2006 received master's and bachelor's degree from the Harbin Institute of Technology. In 2013 received a doctorate from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Acting as deputy director, associate researcher, master instructor of Space Robot Engineering Center of Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. 2015 selected Youth Innovation Promotion Association of Chinese Academy of Sciences, occupied member of Chinese Society for Optical Engineering and China Industrial Software Promotion Association CAE Sub- Association expert. Mainly engaged in optical system photothermal coupling effect, surface radiation characteristics and infrared stealth technology, space optical equipment environmental security technology research. Focusing on the practical needs of space-based optical detection in China, researching on the photothermal coupling characteristics and space environmental effects process of space optical equipment, guide the development of engineering loads and the condensing of the scientific objectives of the mission. Through years of research, a thermal property parameter testing and calibration platform has been established, the problem of Space and ground photothermal parameter consistency has been solved, a deep understanding of the precision thermal control technology and environmental engineering technology of space optical systems has been gained. And successfully applied the results to the development of manned space major project. Has presided over or participated in more than 10 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation, manned spaceflight, National Science and Technology Major Project, and National Key R&D Program of China. Received Jilin Province Science and Technology Progress First Prize and Youth Special Reward Program Class A Funding of CIOMP. Has published more than 40 research papers in professional academic journals such as Applied Thermal Engineering, Metrologia, Measurement, Optical Precision Engineering, etc., including the first author or Communication author SCI paper 5 and EI paper 11; Authorized 7 invention patents; Host and participate in the development of 9 standards; 2 doctoral students and 3 master students were directed, one of whom was awarded a national scholarship and the title of outstanding graduate.

His main research interests include kinematics and dynamics of space robot and Mechanical Analysis of Space Optical Load.
He participated in two projects of the Natural Fund Commission and several space load projects such as Space Manipulator. He has completed 3 patents and about 19 academic papers.
