Key Laboratory of Optical System Advanced Manufacturing Technology


Optical Technology Research Center was established in August 2002,the center upgraded to Key Laboratory of Optical System Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences(KLOMT)in December 2008, which is specialized in advanced optical system integrated manufacturing. KLOMT made a series of scientific research achievements represented by Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology for Off-axis TMA Optical System, Optical System with Free-form Surface, Advanced manufacture technology for large optical systems, Optical and Functional Thin Film Technology.


Main research areas include:

1. Optical system design theory and methods

2. Optical and structural materials

3. Manufacturing technology of high-precision complicated optical surface

4. Technology of optical films and function films


There are 80 staff in KLOMT with a totally area of 22049 square meters. In recent 5 years, the laboratory has undertaken 141 projects and received the funding of 800 million RMB . There are 30 honors of national and ministry awarded , 345 papers published, 50 patents applied, 53 graduate students educated. KLOMT also has been cooperating with world famous laboratories and companies from USA, France, Germany, Belarus, Korea, etc.


Introduction of director

            XUE Donglin

He received his bachelor’s degree from Changchun College of Optics and Fine Mechanics, and received his Ph.D. in engineering from CIOMP, CAS.

As the main accomplisher, he won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress in 2011, the first prize of Jilin province science and technology progress in 2014, and the first prize of Jilin province technical innovation in 2018. Furthermore, he won the Jilin youth science and technology Award in 2016 and the Chinese Academy of Sciences outstanding science and technology achievement award in 2015.

His research interests connected with design of space optical system, NC machining and testing technology of aspheric surface and freeform surface, assembly and adjustment technology of complex optical system.

He is responsible for or involved in a number of pre-research, model project demonstration and manufacture technology. His research results have been successfully applied to 23 key national missions.

The following figure is the interferometric testing set-up diagram by CGH(Computer Generated Hologram) of a 1-meter class freeform silicon carbide mirror, which is the largest freeform silicon carbide mirror in China. It has been successfully applied to GF-6 camera in China.
