Si nanocrystals for spectral conversion in future photovoltaics

Topic       :  Si nanocrystals for spectral conversion in future photovoltaics

Speaker  :Prof. Tom Gregorkiewicz

Time        :Oct 27,2014 14:30 PM

Location First meeting room of Research Building

Abstarct:The most important limitation for efficiency of photovoltaic energy conversion appears due to the mismatch between the broad-band character of the solar radiation and the discrete operation mode of solar devices. In his presentation,he will discuss how shaping of the solar spectrum can be achieved using layers of Si nanocrystals with and without Er doping. He will present evaluation of external quantum efficiency of emission from thin layers of Si nanocrystals in SiO2 and its evolution upon introduction of Er3+ ions. He will also discuss energy efficiency of solar shapers based on Si nanocrystals and Er3+ ions.

About the Speaker :Dr. Tom Gregorkiewicz is a full professor (Chair Optoelectronic Materials) and scientific work-group leader in Van der Waals- Zeeman Institute, Institute of Physics, University of Amsterdam. He has published over 235 publications in refereed international journals, more than 80 invited presentations at international conferences.
