Facing the global cutting-edge optoelectronic Science and Technology, CIOMP has already established cooperation and communication with international communities from more than 30 countries and regions in the forms of participating in collaborative projects, holding international conferences, exchanging scholars, setting up joint ventures and co-publishing journals.

CIOMP is open to cooperate with foreign partners, such as the Thrity Meter Telescope project (TMT)，co-publishing the international journal "Light: Science&Applications", holding a series of conferences such as the LIMIS, Light Conferences, CIOMP-OSA Summer Session, partly co-sponsored with OSA, SPIE, IEEE etc. In 2013, CIOMP has received the CAS International Cooperation Award. In 2014, the China Changchun International Optoelectronic Innovation Cluster was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, which provides CIOMP the state-level platform for international cooperation.
