My Story with CIOMP

Author: LI Haochen |

Since 2018, I have been studying in Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a member of the united and diligent department of Space 1. In the first year, I was jointly trained in Beijing, mainly studying professional courses in related fields, and communicating with the laboratory only through online contact. It was only in the following three years that I deeply realized the hard work and perseverance of scientific researchers, who often keep company with the stars and the moon.

Our group is mainly responsible for space remote sensing projects. My project focuses on the Fengyun series satellite loads developed by the group, which need to be loaded and adjusted in the early stage, conducting environmental experiments and radiation calibration, etc. In the process of preliminary understanding of debugging load, my fellow team members gave me patient guidance and continued encouragement, and shared their experiences with me without reservation. I am really lucky to have such a group of excellent and selfless teachers and colleagues. There was a problem in the later installation process, and my tutor reminded us  that aerospace engineers should always have respect for the space industry. Another thing deeply imprinted on my heart is that I am engaged in the aerospace business, so I must be rigorous and not to make mistakes.

Science is not all that we do. In addition to our scientific researches, we also engage in substantial party building activities in the institute. For example, we watched a number of patriotic movies, visited the Puppet Manchukuo Palace and organized various parties on Friday afternoons. I also actively participated in the reading sharing activities organized by the Graduate Department, where I made many new friends and gained a lot from sharing with others. This is the story of CIOMP and me. She continues to witness my growth.
