My story with CIOMP began in the summer vacation of 2020. Before that, I'd been struggling to find out what my ideal research life should be like. Like Alexander Pope said, “Nature and Nature's laws lay hid in night: God said, Let Newton be -- and all was light.” CIOMP makes me see the light, full of vitality and warmth. That year I attended CIOMP's summer camp, and it was the first time I got to know CIOMP so closely, as my previous understanding was only surficial.

During those days, fascinating academic reports and lectures one after another made me exhausted but excited. What attracted me was not only the vivid narrations of the speakers, but also the speakers’ thoughts brilliant minds.

My memory is still fresh though more than a year has passed. I still remember that when a researcher was explaining the principles of satellite and light, all the students' emotions were instantly aroused, and had a heated debate with the researcher on the spot. Such scenes occurred with almost every speech.

We also visited the laboratories of the institute and were dazzled by the wide range of equipment and facilities. I am convinced that advanced theoretical research needs to be supported by sophisticated equipment, and CIOMP comes first on the list.

We were also taken to visit scenic spots in Changchun and got to know more about life in the city, including Changying Century City Summer Lantern Festival and Jingyuetan, even though it rained a little bit. Changchun is a very livable city, the pace here is not as fast as that of a big city, so I could enjoy a pleasant life while devoting myself to research. As a foodie, the most satisfying aspect about Changchun was that there are many delicacies here, especially on Guilin Road and Hongqi Street.

Although I have acquired the essential knowledge of my major, I know there is still too much I don't know. I know I want to engage in further learning and I want to do it in CIOMP. The research environment and facilities here are really fine and satisfying, and the scholarly atmosphere deeply attracts me! The days of the CIOMP Summer Camp were probably the most fulfilling days of my life, and I believe CIOMP would be the ideal place for my post-graduate studies. I made up my mind and tried my best, now my efforts have finally paid off.

I have been studying and living here for almost a year now, and CIOMP has always been a source of endless surprises for me. Here, I have been able to meet great researchers, participate in cutting-edge projects, attend all kinds of lectures, and learn new things every day. Apart from research work, I am also enjoying life in Changchun, jogging around the Institute and enjoying the scenery every day. And I’m looking forward to more achievements in scientific research and more stories with CIOMP.
