I work in Changguang Group as an operation manager, being responsible for the operation of CMOS Camera Technology and Application Industry Park. I am a bridge between scientific research and industry, a role which I really enjoy. And my academic backgrounds - Computer Science and Technology and Marketing - support me to achieve a good result in my work. My knowlege of science and engineering enables me to understand information related to science and technology more quickly, while my business management knowledge helps me understand the demands of enterprises better.
Born and raised in Changchun, I knew of CIOMP even when I was only a child. In my mind it is a famous scientific research institute. So it is such an honor for me to work as a member of it, together with great scientists like you. Two years ago, I joined Changguang Group. To be honest, at the beginning, I knew little about the relationship between Changguang Group and CIOMP. Later, in my work, I realized that I am actually in the industry system of CIOMP, which I gradually learned about. Meanwhile, the ‘research, industry and education’ strategy of CIOMP, which is a guiding principle of our work, has also taken deep root in my heart.
For instance, the goal of the CMOS Camera Industry Park I am currently working for is to develop a CMOS camera industry chain, and build a scientific research-enterprise ecosystem. My job involving liaising between project teams and management, as well as going to exhibitions to promote our products and attract new customers.. Through my work, I understand not only the hard work and tremendous achievements of scientists and enterprises, but also the industry layout of CIOMP, which is oriented to important areas, such as intelligent manufacturing industry, aerospace industry and so on, significantly contributing to our nation defense infrastructure, economic growth and social development. Although I am not one of those researchers who made direct contributions to our country and society, I still feel proud that I am a member of CIOMP, playing my ‘bridge’ role in it. Especially in the industry system, there are many R&D results transferred into viable products and services. And I am one of the people who incubate and serve start-up companies, pushing the process of merging technological innovation and economic development.
What I appreciate is that my work has broadened my horizon and fostered in me an interest in optics and electronics. Being a ‘bridge’ demands me to be a ‘T’ type talent, which means I need to know about various areas, and become an expert in one certain area. The books I am reading now are about how to incubate scientific-technological enterprises, how chips are manufactured, how to operate an industry park, what to focus when you are running a business.... Of course I sometimes feel stressed out that I have to learn so much, but I think only in this way can I develop within my career and make contributions.
Another change in my life is that now when I see something related to my work, I will become excited. For example, once I went to a dental clinic, where they have a device so advanced that the doctor can use camera to check my teeth and show it on a screen for me to see. That reminds me that when I was researching about CMOS image sensor industry chain, I read that CMOS camera can be applied in medical areas like this in physical examination. Do you understand the feeling that what you do is literally related to and shown in your daily life? There are many moments like this in my life, which make me feel my work is meaningful and worthwhile.
Two years of working in CIOMP really makes me realize the importance of "stay hungry, stay foolish". There are so many fantastic people for me to learn from and so many fields to explore. This is my story and I hope we can write our stories together in the future.
