It’s my honor to share my story with CIOMP with readers. Compared with most of my senior colleagues who have worked in CIOMP for decades, my story is not long enough to be filled with plenty of emotional and dramatic plots, because it was only at the beginning of June this year that I started working in the T2T Department of Changchun Changguang Precision Instrument Group Company. However, as the famous poet William Shakespeare’s dictum says, “There are a thousand hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes.” Everyone’s story with CIOMP is be totally different. I trust that my story with CIOMP is definitely unique and attractive in its own right.
To be honest, I was so nervous and excited to submit my resume online and attend job interviews, because it’s common knowledge in Jilin Province how difficult it is to become a member of CIOMP, how outstanding and professional CIOMP is in the field of Optics, and how rare the opportunity is for me to display my talents on such a great platform. In addition, it’s the first time that I tried to join such a nationally well-known and respected organization. Fortunately, I succeed in securing an offer at the end of May. The night before I started my new job at CIOMP, I tossed and turned in bed, over excited with anxiety and expectation, because I knew there would be so much knowledge I need to learn to do my job well. To my surprise, my responsible department leaders and friendly colleagues helped dispel all the negative feelings from my mind, taking me into the team effectively and helping me understand my job duties in a caring manner.
Looking back, I joined the T2T Department at an appropriate and challenging time. Throughout 2022, to meet the department’s goals on time, everyone in the T2T department has concentrated on how to cooperate with other relative departments in CIOMP such as the Condition Department and the Network Center to construct CIOMP’s youth innovation center which can satisfy the demands, integrate resources including talents, technology, experts, and finalize achievements transformation, how to create an effective and comfortable innovating environment, how to attract more talents in Jilin province to join us and work with CIOMP to explore the frontier of optics industry. My team leader and colleagues’ conscientious work ethic positively influenced me and made me determined to learn through my work.
If you ask me what was the most impressive activity I attended during my first month in CIOMP, it must be attending CIOMP’s Mid-Year Summary Meeting. The meeting made me understand CIOMP’s culture more deeply and respect all senior colleagues, who had overcome many difficulties in their career and still insist on finishing research and production tasks, especially with all the obstacles emerged as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19 in Jilin Province since March. Besides that, I was also excited to attend the companies’ demand meeting, which provided a win-win platform to push forward the communications between CIOMP and companies, allowing company representatives to explain their demands on optics, agriculture, media and artificial intelligence industries with experts in CIOMP. Although I feel exhausted every day, I really get a great sense of achievement that I had never felt before.
After only one month, I already understood the reasons why so many scientists enjoy their jobs at CIOMP. To be honest, I was deeply touched by their spirits and CIOMP’s culture so that I hope to work and make progress with CIOMP together over the next few decades, helping to promote youth technology innovation and entrepreneurship, endeavoring to create more value to Jilin’s Optics industry and contributing my energy, my efforts and my youth to CIOMP.
