The story of myself and CIOMP began last year with the summer camp. Academic summer camps were generally not a pleasant experience for me, as my applications were often rejected. So I did not pin my hopes too high on getting into the CIOMP summer camp, as it is such a respected research institute and a part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. As a result I didn't pay much attention to my application once I have submitted the documents. Then one day, I received a phone call, and a teacher's voice rang out on the other end of the line, "Remember to complete your application on the website, and welcome to the CIOMP summer camp.” Surprised and overjoyed, I turned on my computer immediately to submit all the documents and waited for the final notification. I could not rest until I saw my name on the official list, and then I had to prepare for the upcoming exams. Anxious on the opening day of the summer camp, I was unprepared for the relaxed atmosphere. With fellow students from all over the world and teachers who were very friendly, my nerves were quickly soothed. Hearing lectures given by esteemed academicians allowed me to experience the greatness of older generations of scientists up close for the first time, and I was determined to do my best to add to the optical satellite business of my country.
Luckily, I was accepted into CIOMP as a postgraduate student as I had hoped, and in March this year, I came here with great expectations to complete my undergraduate graduation design, which once again gave me a great shock and a great experience. My hostess was very kind, she remembered my name after just one meeting, took me to the procedure in the middle of the night, and recommended nearby affordable supermarkets and food places to me. The next day I went to see my teacher, who was very busy but still thought about my dining problem and asked a senior student to send me a meal ticket, a warm feeling came to my heart, at the same time I was deeply attracted by the atmosphere of the lab, once again I felt that choosing CIOMP was the right step for me.
When I came out of the Daheng Building, the luminous Academician's Corridor came into my view, and I couldn't wait to walk towards it, with a heart full of awe all the way to the end, and a sense of pride filled my heart. The older generation of scientists are role models for us young people today. We will to follow the light, get close to the light, become the light and emit the light all our life.
