In graduate school, my major was optical engineering, and fortunately in my home Jilin Province, there is a famous Chinese Institute of Optics, the ‘Changchun Institute of Optics, Institute of Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CIOMP)’. So after graduation, I chose to work here, and it kicked off the story between us.
CIOMP is the first institute established in the field of optics in New China. It adheres to the scientific development concept of "developing researching, industrialization, and education simultaneously", and has made outstanding contributions in many aspects, such as meeting the country's major needs, scientific research, talent education, and achievements transformation. Therefore, CIOMP has a wide coverage, so whether you want to become a scientist, teacher or entrepreneur, you can realize your dreams here.
And my career started with project management. I came to work here in March 2010. I was competing for the position of scientific research management, which is equivalent to a project manager. My specific job is to engage in planning management and quality management. The position of project manager has high requirements for practitioners, requiring them to have a broad scientific research vision, not only do they need to know the specific process of scientific research, but also have strong organizational ability. I was in this position for five years, during which time I have worked on the quality management and planning management of dozens of projects, and I have served as the quality engineer of several key projects. At the meantime, I have coordinated concrete communication between my unit and Party A and Party B, covering project bidding, process management and related activities after delivery. These five years have given me a detailed understanding of the whole process of scientific research activities. During these five years, my work has never been separated from scientific research work.
In 2015, I got the opportunity to study for a full-time doctoral degree in Chinese Academy of Sciences. As I believe that academics should be serious and dedicated, I quit my job in project management, transferred to the technical department, and devoted myself to academic research.
From 2015 to now (2022), I have been working in scientific research for seven years. During these seven years, I have found my own scientific research direction: multi-dimensional information intelligent remote sensing and optical precision measurement. I have completed my doctoral project, and made in-depth research on white light interferometry, including hardware innovation and algorithm innovation. Meanwhile, in the field of multi-dimensional information intelligent remote sensing, I was able to achieve the video perception of polarization information, spectral information and intensity image information. I'm glad that these two directions have aroused my strong interest, and I can always engage in research in this field.
Twelve years have passed by in a hurry, and my career path has been transformed from that of a manager to a researcher in CIOMP. In this process, I am very grateful to my colleagues for their enthusiastic help. Their trust and help have given me great impetus in this transformation process and encouraged me to move forward bravely.
From my heart, I want to say that CIOMP is a big stage, and to a large extent you get to decide what role you will play on this stage. There is an inclusive atmosphere here, and practitioners can get all kinds of opportunities to realize their dreams. I would like to sincerely thank CIOMP for helping my personal growth. Here, you can design and choose your life. Based on my personal experience, I believe you can achieve this.
At last, I hope to send my best wishes to CIOMP, and wish you a happy 70th birthday! It is expected that CIOMP, a sacred academic hall, can bring forth more brilliant achievements.
