On 28th June, Google Scholar released the 2022 Scholar Metrics, Light: Science & Applications (LSA) ranks No.2 among all journals in optics & photonics category.
As shown in Fig. 1, the 2022 Scholar Metrics include two journal scores: 1) h5-index: representing the h-index of a journal in the past five years. For example, LSA's h5-index=101, which means, at least 101 articles published in LSA between 2017 and 2021 were cited for at least 101 times; 2) h5-median: the median of the citation counts in its h-index for the past five years. For instance, LSA’s h5-median=141, so the median of the h-index of articles published by LSA from 2017 to 2021 is 141.

As inferred from Scholar Metrics, in principle, the probability of higher Scholar Metrics increases with the total amount of papers published by a journal. It’s noted that LSA has the smallest 5-year publishing volume among the Top 10 optics & photonics journals (see Table 1). Nonetheless, LSA’s h5-index and h5-median rank No.2 among all optics & photonics journals, reflecting LSA has high throughput towards highly-recognized papers.

In the future, LSA is dedicated to serving the optics community with further intelligence and insight.
