The CIOMP-DOC Optics and Optical Engineering International Conference jointly organized by the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) and the Dutch Optics Center (DOC) was successfully held on September 30, 2022.
ZHANG Xuejun, Deputy Director of CIOMP, a member institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; and H.P. Urbach, former chairman of the European Optical Society and professor of Delft University of Technology (DUT) in the Netherlands, served as co-chairmen of the meeting, which focused on four topics: advanced imaging, space optics, optical fabrication and metrology, optoelectronic devices and applications.
Giving the opening speech, Prof. ZHANG reviewed the profound friendship between CIOMP and DOC, which began in 2015, when Prof. Urbach visited CIOMP as an international visiting scientist of CAS. Successful subsequent exchanges led to an agreement that the two sides with take turns to host the CIOMP-DOC Optics and Optical Engineering International Conference, the first of which was held last year in CIOMP. Prof. ZHANG hoped that this annual conference would serve as a new stage for bilateral exchanges and further cooperation.
Professor Urbach thanked CIOMP for hosting the meeting, and made a brief review of the first CIOMP-DOC conference, saying that he was full of expectations for future in-depth exchanges.
The conference began with the theme of "Advanced Imaging". Researcher WU Yihui delivered the first academic report of the day, entitled "Extreme Concentration Light and Slice for Raman Single Cell Analysis", which mainly introduced the technology of optical imaging in medical field, which is a new interdisciplinary subject. The application of optics in medical field is a popular research subject at present. Then, Prof. CHEN Xindong, vice general manager of Changguang Huada, Dr.Yifeng Shao, postdoctoral fellow of DUT and Dr. Thomas van der Sijs introduced their achievements in the field of advanced optical imaging respectively.
The second theme of the conference was "space optics". Human beings have endless imagination and yearning to explore the universe, which makes space optical technology particularly important. Professor Jianrong Gao and Professor Ralf Kohlhaas from DUT introduced their research on space optics respectively. Associate researchers MENG Qingyu and LI Yue of CIOMP elaborated on the high-resolution imaging camera on the Mars probe and the work of FY-3E.
The third theme is "Optical Fabrication and Metrology". ZHANG Site and TANG Wa, Associate Researcher of the Key Laboratory of Optical System Advanced Manufacturing Technology of CIOMP, and Dr. Andrew Boyd and Dr. Sarika Soman of DUT introduced their research fields respectively.
The fourth topic was "Optoelectronic Devices and Applications". Researchers TIAN Sicong and WANG Qiang from CIOMP, Dr. Bruno Lopez Rodriguez and Dr. Wenye Ji from DUT carried out progress analysis in this direction respectively.
The meeting was held online and offline simultaneously, with a venue set up in CIOMP. About 100 researchers and graduate students attended the conference at the venue. The International Cooperation Department plans to organize more international academic exchanges involving even more CIOMP scientific research departments, in order to promote the institute’s internationalization process.
