CIOMP Celebrates Graduation Ceremony for Class of 2024

Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, held a grand graduation ceremony to honor the Class of 2024, marking a significant milestone in the students' academic journey.
The ceremony, hosted by CHU Minghui, Director of Graduate Education, took place at CIOMP's campus in Changchun, China, and commenced with a solemn rendition of the national anthem, setting the tone for the momentous occasion. The graduates, accompanied by their families and representatives from the institute, were filled with anticipation and pride as they received their well-deserved degrees.
President of CIOMP Academician ZHANG Xuejun, along with Party Secretary JIN Hong and other member of the institute’s executive committee, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and acknowledged the unwavering support of their mentors and families. Prof. ZHANG outlined four essential expectations for the graduates, emphasizing their national responsibilities, the pursuit of lifelong learning, the importance of grounding aspirations in reality, and the power of cooperation and teamwork.
Prof. XU Zhenbang, onbehalf of the mentors, shared valuable insights from his own experiences in scientific research and teaching. He encouraged the graduates to maintain a positive mindset, face challenges with resilience, and make substantial contributions to the nation through their work.
FAN Yandong, an outstanding graduate and first author of a published paper in "Nature," gave a speech as valedictorian. He reflected on his academic journey and offered words of advice to his fellow graduates, stressing the significance of humility, bravery, continuous learning, and an enterprising spirit in the face of future opportunities and challenges.

During the ceremony, outstanding graduates were recognized for their exceptional achievements. They were presented with certificates by Vice Presidents LI Yaobin, HAN Chengshan, and Committee Members LI Daibing and XUE Donglin.
The highlight of the ceremony came when Prof. ZHANG and Prof. JIN personally turned the tassels on the graduates' graduation caps, symbolizing their transition into a new phase of their lives.
Amidst the excitement, the graduates expressed their gratitude and respect for their mentors by presenting them with flowers, signifying their appreciation for the guidance and support received throughout their academic journey.
The graduation ceremony at CIOMP not only marked the end of the graduates' time as students but also carried with it the promise of a bright future. As they embark on their individual paths, CIOMP remains a steadfast home for its alumni, offering continued support and encouragement.
