On June 17th, the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics, and Physics (CIOMP) successfully hosted the first “Light & Youth” International Academic Forum, bringing together leading experts and young researchers in the field of optics and photonics.
The forum featured six prominent scholars: James Kafka, Juergen Czarske, Zhang Qian, Sergey L. Bozhevolnyi, Fei Ding, and Chongfeng Guo, who delivered keynote speeches on cutting-edge topics such as laser technology, biophotonics, multimode fibres, nanophotonics, and fluorescent LEDs.
With the theme "Light + Youth", the forum attracted over 80 graduate students from CIOMP and other local universities, fostering a unique environment for knowledge exchange between established scientists and the next generation of researchers.
The event was organized by the Graduate School of CIOMP with significant support from the Light Academic Publishing Center. The forum was orchestrated by the Student Branch of the Optical Society of CIOMP.

"This forum aims to explore frontier technologies and nurture youth innovation while broadening the international outlook of our graduate students," said Qiao Shantong, a student representative from CIOMP's Optical Society who chaired the event.
The success of this inaugural forum suggests it may become a regular platform for international collaboration and talent development in the rapidly evolving field of optics and photonics.
As the global demand for optical technologies continues to grow, initiatives like the "Light & Youth" forum play a crucial role in bridging the gap between established researchers and emerging talent, potentially accelerating innovation in this critical field.
