Author: WANG Hui |

May 25, 2026 – The inauguration ceremony of the IEEE Sensors Council Student Branch Chapter at Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), together with the RISE Frontier symposium, was successfully held in Room 307 of the Teaching Building at the Department of Graduate Education. Professor Anil Roy, President of the IEEE Sensors Council, attended the event as a distinguished guest, exploring cutting-edge sensing technologies and international academic development with CIOMP faculty and students. Ms. Hui Wang, Deputy Director of the Department of Graduate Education of CIOMP, participated throughout the event.

During the inauguration, Professor Roy officially announced the establishment of the IEEE Sensors Council CIOMP Student Branch Chapter. Yuqing Huang, a master’s student at CIOMP, was appointed as the founding Chair of the Student Branch Chapter. Professor Roy then gave a comprehensive introduction to the IEEE Sensors Council, encouraging CIOMP faculty and students to actively participate in IEEE activities and strengthen international academic exchanges.

As a key segment of the event, the RISE Frontier symposium was successfully convened. Moderated by Hongjian Wang, a PhD candidate at CIOMP, the symposium featured in-depth discussions on three core themes: trends in the sensor industry, IEEE standard development, and personal career development. The session witnessed active interactions and enthusiastic Q&A among the attendees.

The successful launch of this event not only marks the official establishment of the IEEE Sensors Council CIOMP Student Branch Chapter, but also establishes another key international academic platform for the graduate students at CIOMP in the field of sensing. Through the RISE Frontier event, graduate students engaged in in-depth exchanges with world-renowned experts.

In the future, the CIOMP Student Branch Chapter will leverage the global resources of the IEEE Sensors Council to actively organize academic exchanges, science outreach, international cooperation and other activities, helping young scholars broaden their academic horizons and enhance their research and communication capabilities.
