The editorial office of Light: Science & Applications in Shanghai has organized a workshop on scientific publishing. In cooperation with the School of Information Science and Technology of Fudan University, three lectures aiming for graduate students have been offered in October 2017.

The goal of the workshop was to introduce fundamentals of publishing research results and best practice about scientific writing. Within the three weeks of the workshop the students learned about submission and peer review processes as well as how to write a research paper aiming for high impact journals. Besides how to structure a manuscript and how to formulate scientific results in general, the workshop also focused on the usage of English as non-native speakers. About 40 graduate students of Fudan University participated actively in the workshop.
