As the Coronavirus spreads and threatens millions of people both in China and now in many other countries, Prof. Dieter Bimberg of the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) has been trying to help his Chinese collegues by sending them much needed medical face masks and disinfectants from his home in Germany.

Prof. Bimberg, director of Bimberg Chinese-German Center for Green Photonics, is now in Germany and cannot return to his work in Changchun. But he has been keeping in touch with his colleagues via video links and gave them much encouragements and best wishes.

After he learned about the shortage of medical face masks since the outbreak, Prof. Bimberg immediately mobilized his family members to send medical masks and disinfectants to Changchun by post, hoping to help his colleagues.

Prof. Bimbergs package of masks and disinfectants is not just a helping hand in our time of need, but a "love package" that makes us all feel warmer.
